A princess transformed by a bite from Dame Souriçonne, an astronomer and a mechanic on a quest to find a nut that can save her, a young man wearing boots, an army of vengeful mice, a king and queen as cruel as they are loving – this is the story of how The Nutcracker became The Nutcracker.

For The True Story of The Nutcracker, told by Jean Manifacier after Alexandre Dumas, the Quatuor Anches Hantées draws on music by Tchaikovsky, transcriptions by other composers and an original creation by Fabien Waksman (Victoire de la musique 2023, Composers category).

The Nutcracker conjures up images of the great classical ballet, but here it’s Hip Hop dancer Bryan Montarou who illustrates this traditional tale from a new angle.
